He's So Cute...

...I had to make a post just for him.

Fun at Smith and Edward's...

...there was a giant gun and an enormous chain. Of course they were all in heaven.

Bookshelves

I recently built bookshelves in my kitchen for my cookbooks using rain gutters. If you would like the tutorial I used, go here. I added zebra print duct tape to the front and I think it made them uniquely personalized for me!

Her First Birthday Pictures...

...and she looked especially sweet because she was covered in ice cream. The shirt she is wearing is one I made with my Silhouette using the flocked heat transfer. Adorable!

She escaped from her bath...

...and I had to take pictures.

AWANA Games

Every year all of the local AWANA clubs join together and compete in games designed to get the kids moving. Most of the games are silly and they all look really fun. The kids had a blast and Evvie's club came in second place! (The weird looking thing Evvie is standing with in the above picture would be their mascot, Sparky)

Crazy Hair Night

While I was down with a serious sinus infection crazy hair night for AWANA rolled around. Brian had to take the reigns and design the crazy hair motifs and make it happen. He did a good job.

Girly T-Shirt Makeover!

I found this t-shirt at Wal-Mart for $5, but it just seemed so boring... so I decided to spruce it up! I bought a yard of red felt and matching red thread and made this boring tee into something special. Here's how:

I pinned a flower template onto the felt (I used a Martha Stewart Weddings flower template I found here, but you could use any flower you like). This flower will serve as your base.

Cut out your flower and sew it directly to your shirt, following the edges. Be careful not to sew your shirt together like I did... oops. When you are done, your shirt should look something like this:

Then you are going to cut a strip of felt 1 3/4" by the width of the fabric (mine was 45"). Sew along one side of the strip using a long basting stitch and leave your threads long at the ends. Gently pull on the bobbin thread on both ends and gather the strip as tight as you would like your flower to be. After gathering your strip should look like this:

Carefully stitch your strip onto the base flower on your t-shirt in a circular motion, stopping to "fluff" and shape your flower at every turn. When you are done the finished product should look like this:

I made one for each of my little girls, and they look so gorgeous on them!

Happy crafting!
